Sedimentary Rocks
Sedimentary rocks are formed by the accumulation or deposition of material (lithic, biogenic and/or chemical) at the Earth's surface. This material may be cemented by precipitation of a mineral from a fluid, or may instead remain loose and friable. Finally, the sediment will typically undergo diageneis and compaction during lithification into a sedimentary rock.
